Panama City, May 22, 2026. The Ministry of Culture paid tribute to the writer and cultural promoter Xochitl McKay, as part of the 6th Festival of Children and Youth Literature, recognizing his outstanding track record and his invaluable contribution to the promotion of literature for children and youth in Panama.

The recognition was given by Secretary General Ivis Moreno, who emphasized McKay's commitment and contribution to strengthening the imagination, creativity and cultural identity of new generations through literature and children's theater.

The event also highlighted the 55-year history of the Teatro Infantile Tia Dora, a project that throughout more than five decades has been contributing to the artistic and cultural training of thousands of Panamanian children and families.

Upon his recognition, Xochitl McKay expressed his gratitude for his support to writers and artists and emphasized the importance of continuing to promote cultural spaces that strengthen the creative and educational development of children.

The tribute was also with the participation of Irene Delgado and Carlos Fong, who added to the words of recognition and emphasized the value of working together to strengthen cultural initiatives

To close the day, the attendees enjoyed the presentation of the children's play "Auntie Dora: La Cenicienta," a staging that filled with joy, entertainment and values to those present.
With this recognition, the Ministry of Culture continues to promote reading, literature and artistic expressions that enrich the country's cultural heritage.
