Panama May 18, 2026. The Ministry of Culture reports that the registration period of the call for folk groups interested in participating in the Panama National Crafts Fair 2026, an initiative advanced by the Folklore National Directorate to strengthen and promote our traditional cultural expressions.

The call, held from April 27 to May 15, was open to children's, youth, adult, older, institutional and individual groups throughout the country, providing an opportunity for national folkloric talent to be part of one of the most representative cultural events in the country.

A total of 243 folkloric groups were received as a result of the registration process, reflecting the national artistic sector's interest and commitment to keeping the national traditions and cultural expressions alive.

Currently, we have initiated the process of evaluating and selecting the applications received, by which we will determine the groupings that will integrate the artistic program of the Panama National Crafts Feria 2026, which includes 160 presentations at the Main Taima during the four days of the event, with an estimated participation of 4,000 dancers, as well as special presentations at the La Huaca Theater, where about 500 dancers and musicians are planned to participate.

The Ministry of Culture appreciates the extensive participation and interest shown by the Folkloric groups, whose commitment and dedicated work contribute to preserve, strengthen and project Panamanian traditions and cultural heritage.

The results of the selection process will be communicated in a timely manner through the official channels of the institution. The process of evaluating and selecting the groups will be undertaken with consideration to the order of receipt of applications, their validation to the Folklore National Network and compliance with the essential requirements set out in the call.
