Colón, May 15, 2026. - Malamagra Teatro with the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (SENACYT) officially introduced the project "Voices of Colón," an innovative cultural and tourist initiative that aims to place colonese youth as a storyteller of their own history and promoter of the nation's heritage.

The launch was held at the Center for Art and Culture at Colón with the participation of authorities, strategic partners and civil society representatives. During the event, it was emphasized that this project was the winner of the call Panama Innova 2025, a program of SENACYT that promotes entrepreneurship and creative economy in the country.

The event began with the welcome of the director of the Colón Center of Art and Culture, Abel Aronátegui, followed by the words of Gladys Berrett, Director of Enterprise Innovation at SENACYT, who emphasized the importance of supporting proposals that integrate science, culture and tourism. Later, Marisín Luzcando, executive director of Vozo de Colón, put forward the aims of the project, highlighting its impact on the community and its capacity to generate artistic experiences that re-value the colonic identity.

One of the most emotional moments was the presentation of the young fellows, who form the first generation of the Voice cast of Colón. Provenors of different cordments of the province, these youth represent the talent and energy of Colón. They include students of art, tourism, law, chemistry and communication as well as community leaders and emerging artists who, through theater, music and storytelling, seek to strengthen their sense of belonging and project the cultural diversity of the region.

The event included a video showing the project's advances and culminated with the closing words of Maritza Vernaza, director of Malamaña Teatro, who thanked the allied institutions and companies that have made this initiative possible, including the Portobelo and San Lorenzo Board of Trustees, CIHAC AIP, the ColónQ Chamber of Commerce and the Panamanian Association of Arts Professionals, The Jenny Trip, National Protected Water System, San LorenzoQ Chamber of Commerce, and Multifunctional Union of Panama's Multifunctional and Association of Civil and Civil and Civil and Civil and Civil Services.

"Voices of Colón" is projected as an area of training, creation and cultural dissemination that strengthens local identity and opens up new opportunities for tourism and economic development for the province. with this project, Colón stands as a reference of creativity, leading his youth as leading actors and as guardians and promoters of the historic memory of the country.
