Panama City, April 29, 2026. José Augusto Broce, specialist at the Intangible Cultural Heritage Department of Panama's Ministry of Culture, has been selected to receive an Ibero-American Nobel Prize at 10th and Improvisado Verse, one of the highest international recognition.

The distinction will be awarded as part of the third Ibero-American Congress of the Tenth and Improvised Verse, to be held from May 15 to 17, 2026 at Varadero, Matanzas, Republic of Cuba, bringing together well-known figures, researchers and growers of the oral tradition of the whole region.

That prize, awarded by the Ibero-American Center of the Tenth and Improvised Verse, recognizes the excellence and trajectory of personalities who have significantly contributed to the development, preservation and dissemination of the tenth and his improvised verse, both in his oral and written expression.

The selection of Professor Broce highlights his valuable contribution to strengthening Panama's intangible cultural heritage and his commitment to research, safeguard and promote the oral traditions that form part of national identity.

The Panamanian participation at this important international meeting is valuable to highlight the cultural expressions of the region and puts its exponents into an Ibero-American dialogue about living heritage.
It is hoped that this recognition will also contribute to visualizing the wealth of the tenth Panamanian and strengthening the links of cultural cooperation between Panama and other Ibero-American countries.
