Panamanian films continue to give what to talk about abroad

Panama, November 27, 2025. - Panama does not stop at his career to professionalise national cinema. His productions get nominations and are exhibited at important international festivals, as well as countries with a long film track record.
The film "Papeles" by Director Arturo Montenegro has been nominated at the 31 edition of the José María Forqué Awards of Spain, in the category Latin American film of the year.
That international co-production, filmed between Panama, Uruguay and Spain, was awarded the Fondo Cine national competition of Panama in 2022, in the Ficción production category. That film also received a nomination at the "Hollywood Music Awards" in the soundtrack category in a foreign-language film.
The film has its film premiere scheduled for cinema rooms in Spain, starting from December 5, 2025. The Gala de los Prizes Forqué 2025, will be held at the IFEX in Madrid, on Saturday, December 13, this year.
The "Espina" film, a Panamanian film directed by Daniel Poler and winner of the Fondo Cine 2021 National Competition, continues to conduct international festivals.
The project participated at the 40th International Film Festival of Mar de Plata, Argentina, and was held from 6 to 16 November 2025, with a special mention. In May 2025 she participated at the 37th Girona Festival, where she received the prize for "Best Director Debut."
The film won "Best Foreign Movie," "Best Director," "Best Actor" and "Best Reparation Actor" at the ELCO Festival and received an "International Merit Award" at the Catalina Film Festival.
Further, Panama's film and audiovisual industry will participate with the most important film market in Latin America: South Window, which is recognized as a key platform for the promotion, financing and distribution of audiovisual projects from Latin America, facilitating their meeting with potential partners and / or sales agents, distributors or representatives of the most important festivals in the world.
The projects that will be participating in this strategic pitch space with potential co-production partners, programmers and international distributors are: Félix Guardia con Toro Volandero, Jeico Castro con Caja Rapida, Caterín Caballero con Restauraciones, Oscar Faarup con Salciones Rosa and Carlos Harvard with El Legado de Reina and Jairo Ramos with Menarquía and elvira Rodriguez with puro Rap.
