Panama, March 25, 2025 - The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) invites all caricaturists to participate in the Panama 2025 National New Caricaturist Competition, to be held in May 2025, in commemoration of the Day of the Caricaturist. That event will be held at the Manuel Amador Guerrero Gallery, located at the University City.

The MiCultura gave its support to the talented Panamanian Benjamín Samudo Monte to assist with organizing this contest, which pays tribute to Fernando Peña Moran. The contest aims to highlight national talent in the art of caricature, which requires knowledge, skill and skills to capture, in few strokes and colors, important aspects of both national and international reality.

Modalities and Awards:

1. First Modality: Phenomics Peña Moran
   • First prize: 50.00 (Five hundred Balboas)
   • Second prize: 30.00 (300 Balboas)
   • First prize: 200.00 (Two hundred Balboas)
2. Modality: "He who puts his cover into his country"
   • First prize: 50.00 (Five hundred Balboas)
   • Second prize: 30.00 (300 Balboas)
   • First prize: 200.00 (Two hundred Balboas)

Fernando Peña Moran, born July 11, 1950 and killed September 15, 2023 at his age 73, left an invaluable legacy in the area of political caricature in Panama. His race, which spread for more than 43 years, consecrated him as an indisputable legend of Panamanian caricature. He Destines not only for his immense talent but also his human quality and his genuine connection with people, while maintaining humility, despite his recognition throughout his professional life.
