Panama reaffirms its commitment to Cultural Heritage Conservation "by preserving our history and building our future."

The Ministry of Culture of Panama, represented by Minister María Eugenia Herrera, had an outstanding participation in the event organized by the Association of Architects of Panama and the Commission of Heritage and Historical Sites of the Panamanian Society of Engineers and Architects (SPIA). That meeting brought together academics, students and professionals, all united by a common goal: the conservation and protection of the valuable Panamanian cultural heritage.
Under the central theme "Conservation and Protection of the Cultural Heritage of Panama," the day was placed as a key space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Among the iconic projects highlighted are:
• The restoration of the old Abel Bravo College, now a centre of culture and art at Colón
• Value of the Monumental Set of Old Panama, a historic symbol of the nation
• The restoration of the castle of San Lorenzo the Royal of Chagreas and the Customs of Portobelo, both fortifications of the Panamanian Caribbean, components of the Transistmic colonial route and
• Advances and results in archaeological research that enrich and strengthen the historic and cultural narrative of the country.
In her intervention, Cultural Minister María Eugenia Herrera emphasized the fundamental role of cultural heritage as an engine of identity and development. "Cultural heritage is the backbone of our identity as a nation and a strategic resource for our progress. To participate in spaces such as this reaffirms our commitment to work with the academy and with the professionals to preserve and promote our historic legacy," she emphasized.
The Minister also emphasized the need to implement an integrated, inclusive, participatory and innovative management model, with a combination of public and private sector efforts.
The event was a clear demonstration of the importance of strategic alliances between the Government, academia and professionals, promoting joint actions to ensure the preservation of historic sites as pillars of collective memory and as assets with high cultural and tourist value for Panama and the world.
