The Minister of Culture, Giselle González Villarrué, with his technical team, received room courtesy at the Portobelo Municipal Council with a view to informing and explaining the proposals and projects of the "Family Resettlement Plan in the Portobelo District to correction representatives and local authorities.

The meeting presented the diagnosis of the areas and the plan to mobilise families that are located at the locations of the historic monuments that are recovering, as they are: Santiago de la Gloria, La Adduana de Portobelo and San Gerónimo.

It was explained that "the proposal involves 65 families affected, of whom we have to build 27 new housing units, to be established within the Portobelo District."

"It's a draft plan because families and people from the community are still missing. The idea of the national government as BID, who funds the project, is to make a participatory plan where everyone can be heard."

For her part, Minister of Culture Giselle González Villarrué expressed that "we need your support to continue with the second phase of this integral urban proposal, which will be beneficial to all Portobelo and will improve living conditions."

"I thank them and I ask them to join us in this great transformation of Portobelo, working together and as a team, to show them that this, if possible," stated the highest cultural authority.
