The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), through the Cultural Law and Citizenship Section, prepared a number of activities at the end of the month of the indigenous peoples at the headquarters of the ministry following a program full of culture for all of them.

Sonia Henríquez, president of the National Coordinator of Indigenous Women of Panama (CONAMUIP), Gabriel González, Vice Minister of Culture, Enrique Noel, Director Cultural Law and Citizenship, Carmen Contreras, coordinator of the Department of Indigenous and Afro-descendant Peoples and co-workers and heads and directors of MiCultura were present.

Professor Bernal Castillo presented his research work The Mother Languages and the situation for strengthening the knowledge and holy knowledge of Panama.

The event began with the participation of Panama's Academy of Indigenous Belleza Modeling leading Anselmo Urrutia, his outstanding presentation with his daughter Meyvis Gernado with the Canto del Arrullo and presentations such as: The Wounaan Jernkiaa Dance Association and José Colman with an interesting account of Cuentos Gunas and the educator and reader Alban Velarde presented fragments of the "Napa Tierra Poemario."

The cultural event was attended by his deputy ministers of culture, Gabriel González, who stated that this "issue of his mother tongue is so important for his work here and for all so that he can preserve and care for his tongue so that it doesn't go away and be respected."

Currently about 7000 languages have been referred to, of which 6700 are indigenous languages with the knowledge of peoples that the mother tongue is an inheritance to preserve and promote importance and in 1999, the UNESCO proclaimed International Mother Language Day every 21 February, evaluating this and all the languages that speak about the world.
