Panama, August 2, 2026. The tradition, creativity and mastery of the production techniques of the pollera Panamanian were recognized during the pollera contest in honor of Marina García Cedeño, held at the XLVI National Crafts Fair, where artisan from different regions of the country have shown the quality of his work and his commitment to preserve this expression of cultural heritage.

In the pollera Zurcida category, the first place was for Aretis Varga, the second place was Glenis María Broce Castro and the third place was awarded to Guadalupe Cañizales de Camaño.

In the category pollera Shadow, the first place was obtained by Lilianely Diaz and the second place was for Giselle Carolina Villarreal and the third place was by Ana Esther Felipe Lezcano, with his production and production outstanding.

In the category pollera Marcada, the first place was for Pamela Nicole Rodriguez, the second place for Sheila María Aguilar and the third place for Yaitza Camaño Campos who stood out for the mastery of this traditional technique.

as part of the ceremony, Gustavo Salazar gave the Marina García Cedeño Medal to Arelius Varga, recognition that distinguishes excellence in manufacturing, quality of production and commitment to the maintenance of traditional technologies of the pollera Panamanian.

The pollera contest dedicated to Marina García Cedeño forms part of the program of the XLVI National Crafts Fair, organized by the Ministry of Culture, as an initiative to recognize the talent of Panamanian crafts and to promote the transmission of knowledge that holds up one of the most iconic manifestations of national identity.
