Panama, September 13, 2025. Colors, traditional designs and hundreds of accessories of Ngäbe culture were exposed to the public at the Artesanal Mercadito organized by the Ministry of Culture, through the office of Casco Antiguo (OCA), at Cathedral Square.

The handmade coordinator, Mitziti Tugri Vejarano, told that her traditional dress was born from a legend: a young woman saw a flood descend from the head of the river to the sea, and there came a mythological being, a seven-headed snake called Magata. She saw in the skin of the serpent the designs of crumbs and paintings. That reflected them in his nwaters, charas, hats and all his crafts.

To Tugri, an expert in his people's traditions, his nagua's clothing is an honor because it represents his history, his ancestral legacy and it's a way to keep his inheritance alive.

"We transmit our story to every generation. When a child was born, she was immediately dressed with a naganita, so they will always feel that they are part of his people and his ethnicity."

The bright colors, from this traditional dress, make the tour through Cathedral Park cheerfully and forces passers by to stop to admire the details of each suit's designs.

The little market, which will be open till tomorrow Sunday at 6 p.m., became an opportunity to promote its culture, bearing in mind, "that next October 18 will be held at David, Chiriquí, the Mil Naguas Parade.
