Panama, April 12, 2025. - For the first time, Panama has been selected as an honor guest at the "Festival of the Sweet and Tipic Food of Cartagena," which held its fifth edition from April 12 to 20 at the Cartagena historic centre.

The country is represented by two leading bearers of the Panamanian culinary tradition: Leticia Levy, from Portobelo District, Colón Province, and Echefani González, from West Panama Province. Both will share recipes, techniques and flavors that reflect the living history of our gastronomic roots.

throughout the week, the public was able to enjoy an authentic sample of typical sweets and traditional plates, especially those linked to Easter celebrations.

The festival has also served as a space to promote cultural exchange, highlighting the presentation of the book by Leticia Levy, a renowned cook and cultural manager, that rescates the culinary knowledge of the Panamanian Caribbean and the living memory of its traditions.

Amileth Stanziola, National Director of Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture of Panama, participated in a discussion about cultural exchange between sister cities such as Panama and Cartagena. The Panamanian delegation also had the presence of Ivis Moreno, General Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, who, on behalf of the Minister, thanked the Institute of Cultural and Cultural Heritage of Cartagena (IPCC) for his invitation to this important event, bringing together more than 120,000 people, with local and international visitors.

That first participation by Panama at the festival was the result of a valuable partnership of cooperation between the Mayor's Office of Cartagena and the Ministry of Culture of Panama.
