Panama, August 31, 2026. - The Panama International Contemporary Dance Festival, PRASMA, today begins its 15th edition with a program that will extend up to September 27 and will bring together companies and artists from Panama, Iberoamerica and Europa at different locations of the city with shows, residences, master classes, video and public spaces and free activities.
This year's edition includes a selection of national and international works that will allow the public to get to know different languages and how to approach contemporary creation. The program also includes training activities for dancers, choreographers and industry professionals and proposals open to people who first seek to get close to this discipline.
One of the outstanding components will be PRASMA LAB Professional, an intensive residence of creation that brings together dancers from Panama and Central America select by audition. The 2026 edition will be run by Mexican choreographer Isala Quintana, who will develop with the cast a new piece designed specifically to discuss with the temporary exhibition of the Panama Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC Panama).
The creation process will combine movement research, exchange of experiences and collaborative work among artists from different countries of the region. The result will be presented on September 18 at 8: 00 p.m. at MAC Panama with free entrance.
Throughout his 15th year, PRASMA has helped to expand the presence of contemporary dance in Panama by presenting international artists, encouraging local creators and generating training and professional exchange spaces.
Since 2012, PRASMA has been established as a space for the circulation of proposals for contemporary dance, the training of artists and interchange among creators from different countries. In recognition of this work and its contribution to the development of discipline in the region, the festival received an Honest Mention from the Ibero-American Dance Prize.
