"El Cascanutias" closed the 2025 season of Panama's National Ballet with full and tiptised functions at record time Panama, 15 December 2025. The Panama National Ballet of the Ministry of Culture concluded its 2025 season with an extraordinary success by presenting "El Cascanutias," one of the most representative titles of the universal repertoire and a tradition that every December convoks thousands of lovers of classical dance.

The production, choreographed by the well-known David Makhateli with his artistic director, Sasha Adamovic registered complete throughout his performance and became one of the most outstanding artistic events of the year.

Following an extraordinary public response, the season was expanded and doubled its number of functions, including a special presentation at the Colón Center for Art and Culture and two additional free jobs, held on 18 and 19 December, accompanied by the Panama Philharmonic Orchestra. The tickets for these free jobs were run out in just two hours, confirming the success of this work and the growing public interest in classical dance.

On this special occasion, the National Ballet was with the presence of the choreographer and former first dancer at the Royal Ballet of London, England, David Makhateli, who returned to Panama for the first time to conduct an exclusive ride for these performances.

Makhateli, recognised for his prestigious international career and his artistic link with our country, prints a fresh, elegant and deeply theatrical look at this new version.

The production also integrated girls and boys and young people from different academies throughout the country, selected through an official hearing, who participated in the special functions called "The Night of the Young Eput," on 13 and 14 December, as part of their commitment to the formation of new generations and strengthening of the national dance ecosystem.

During one of his functions, the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera emphasized "The presence of each of you today marks an historic moment. Due to his back to the ballet, the dream of generations of dancers who, for 53 years, have been expecting a full theater season with an audience that embraces and loves his art come true."

He also recognized the hundreds of people who have been with us for an early hour to secure their entry to the extended functions, and emphasized that "classical dance, at every step, tells stories, transforms emotions and transformed movement into a sublime expression of the soul."

The Minister also noted the efforts of the National Ballet of Panama and its artistic, technical and administrative team responsible for a season of 13 excellence functions as well as the arrival of production at Colón, bringing classical dance closer to new audiences.

The season's closure reflect an outstanding year for the Panama National Ballet, marked by premiere, the participation of guest choreographers and dancers, national and international tours and productions that have been strengthening the company's production both inside and outside the country. In this context, El Cascueces became the golden brooch of an historic 2025.
