Following an official visit to Panama by the President of the Republic of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, First Lady Leticia Ocampos made a guided tour of the main monuments of the historic centre of Panama, accompanied by Maricel Cohen de Mulino, wife of the president of the Republic of Panama.

The tour, organized by the First Lady's Office and the Ministry of Culture, included iconic sites such as the National Theater and the Cathedral Cathedral of Santa María la Antigua, architecture and heritage that are part of the Panamanian cultural legacy.

During his visit, First Lady Ocampos was accompanied by Ivis Moreno, General Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Amber Zambrano, Director of the Casco Antiguo Office (OCA), who put forward his efforts for the conservation, restoration and cultural dynamic of this site as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

As part of the meeting, OCA's director and architect Javier Edward and Carlos Fitzgerald, Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, gave a presentation about progress in managing and revitalizing the Casco Antiguo, sharing experiences and best practices with the Paraguayan delegation.

The teams from both countries exchanged ideas about future cooperation projects focused on encouraging cultural tourism, promoting student exchange and strengthening cultural activity at their historic centers.

The activity was also accompanied by Ana Ovando, representative of Paraguay's Embassy in Panama, and Antonela Albertini, Secretary of the First Lady of Paraguay.

That visit was part of bilateral meetings aimed at promoting regional integration and accompanying Panama as it entered the Common Market of the South (Mercosur).
