The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) initiated the "Ricardo Miró 2025 Literary Week," with the event of panda opening held on October 20 at the City of the Arts, where the winners of the Ricardo Miró National Literature Prize, the highest prize of the Panamanian letters, became known.

The issue included 197 works distributed in 43 novels, 54 collections of stories, 58 poemaries, 30 plays and 12 essays, a sample of the growth and vitality of literary creation in the country. Each awarded author will get B /. 15,000 and his work published.

The winners are Alex Marshal Mariscal with his work "Rham Bone Knife" in the category of Theater, and Eduardo Jaspe Lescure's "Retirement Night" and his "Venom Innwards" and his "Retiring and Exodus" and his "Retirement and Retirement. Poetic of his being despondency in the Age of Political Machines" by Edgardo Bracho Garay and his "The Falling of Six Poems" by Alexander Morales.

At the ceremony, the deputy ministers of culture, Arianne Benedetti, emphasized that in Panama "there's an enormous talent expressed every day at different artistic events, especially among young people who fight to clear their way. From the Ministry of Culture we work so that every Panamanian has an opportunity to live from his or her art and develop on an equal footing throughout the country."

During the Ricardo Miró Literature Week, discussions, workshops and lectures will be held with the participation of international jurors from Costa Rica, Cuba, Spain, Argentina and Honduras, who will share their experiences and reflections about contemporary literary creation.

The Jury was made up of well-known writers and academics: Jorge Galan (El Salvador), Jaiko Jiménez Cain (Panama), Alberto Marrero Fernández (Cuba), Camilo Retana (Costa Rica), Fidel Mundich (Dominican Republic), Francisco Javier Blanco (Panama), José Del Cid Felipe (Panama), Liliana Blum (Mexico), Dazra Novak (Cuba), Pablo De Santis (Argentina), Silvia Quezada (Mexico) and Juan David Morgan (Panama), Jorgelina Cerritos (El Salvador), José Durpolo (Panama) and Juan José Duelzo (Costa Rica).

The National Prize for Literature Ricardo Miró, established in 1942, honors the memory of the Panamanian poet and diplomat Ricardo Miró, author of the poem "Homeland," one of the most iconic texts of national identity. Each year, this contest becomes an area of recognition for literary talent that continues to enrich the culture and word written in Panama.
