The Ministry of Culture held a meeting with a group of national artisan, in an open and respectful space of dialogue with a view to listening to his suggestions and concerns about the organisation and logistics of the National Crafts Fair 2025, to be held from 30 July to 3 August at the ATLAPA Convention Centre.

During the meeting, the artisans expressed their concerns about the selection process of participants for this year's edition. In response, authorities of the ministry emphasized that the evaluation process was completely transparent and that no officials were involved in the process. The selection was conducted by an independent and specialized jury, who evaluated the proposals put forward in accordance with the criteria set out in the standards and catalogues received, in the presence of a notary that attested the transparency of the choice. Moreover, the artisan have put forward important inputs to strengthen the artisan sector of the country.

This year, for structural damage to the area of the Anayansi Theater only a part of Atlapa will be used that limits the projection of MiCultura to increase the number of artisan participants. Nevertheless, new spaces have been found as an alternative to achieve more participation.

We deeply appreciate the work of our artisan and will therefore continue to generate spaces for dialogue and continuous improvement for the promotion of his products," stated Dhavinia de Mares, National Director with responsibility for Handicrafts.

The National Crafts Fair is one of the most important cultural events in the country and aims to expose and promote the work of artisan throughout the national territory by rescuing and evaluating Panamanian cultural traditions and expressions.
