To share knowledge, experience and best practice in areas such as cultural heritage conservation, museum management and the promotion of arts and culture, Panama and Peru signed an agreement for cultural cooperation.

The signing, among representatives of the Ministries of Culture, was registered at the third edition of the Cuzco Forum, which was held in Peru under the motto "Trends and prospects for the protection, return and restitution of cultural heritage," an activity covered by the Convention of the UNESCO of 1970.

Ivis Moreno, General Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Panama, was charged with representing our country at this important event that promotes the protection of national heritage.

The signing established mutual cooperation with respect to the protection, defence and repatriation, inter alia, of property that forms part of the cultural heritage of both nations, such as illegal extraction of archaeological pieces.

It also includes the safeguard and re-valuation of traditional knowledge within the jurisdiction of States.
