A tribute to national identity that unites the State, private enterprise and civil society.

At an emotional ceremony held in the City of the Arts, the Ministry of Culture of Panama paid tribute to the co-sponsors and allied institutions that have made the "Operation Wounded Flag," a cultural mission with high symbolic value that honors the first flag built during the separatist gesture of 1903, possible.

The event, chaired by the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, emphasized the relevance of this unprecedented initiative, its aim being to restore and preserve one of the most representative emblems of national history.

"The restoration of the iconic Wounded Flag is an act of loyalty to the homeland, a tribute to those who fought for freedom and an invaluable legacy for future generations," said Minister Herrera. The flag, with a 97% decline, will be restored at the National Institute for Cultural Heritage of Madrid with the support of the Kingdom of Spain.

The success of this operation has been achieved through close collaboration between the Panamanian Government and the private sector. These companies have been instrumental in ensuring that the movement and preservation of the "Wound Flag" met the highest international standards with regard to cultural heritage, secure and secure air transport under strict maintenance conditions, specialized logistics support and technical and operational assistance throughout the process.

The ceremony also recognized the structured work of the Ministry of Public Security, through the National Police, Tourism Police, SENAN, SENAFRONT and the Benemérit Fire Corps, for the custody and maintenance of the national emblem.

The cooperation of the Transit and Ground Transport Authority (ATTT) with its accompaniment and management with the transport route and with the Ministry of Government was also emphasized for its historic contributions through the National Commission for Patriotic Symbols (CONASIN) and with the National Library for the documentary and academic support that attests to the property value of the piece. Also, Tocumen International Airport was expressed for facilitating international logistics of the journey.

The "Operation Wounded Flag" sets a milestone in the cultural history of the country, bringing together different sectors around a common goal: to preserve historic memory and to strengthen national identity.
