40 Social Communicators are part of the party

The tradition became felt at Portobelo with the conduct of the 14th Fest of Dying and Congoes: Roots, Tambores and Danzas, a cultural activity that brought together more than 40 social communicators from different national means, who had been living with the first-row experience, with a co-management between the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), the Portobelo and the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP).

The festival, held around the Customs Building and Portobelo Park, attracted thousands of local, visiting and foreign attractions, attesting to the growing interest in cultural tourism as a development engine for Colón province.

During the day, journalists participated actively in the cover of the event, tasting typical cuisine, interviewing participants and visitors and documenting cultural expressions that make this activity a national reference.

The Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, participated with the people of Argentina, local authorities, artists and entrepreneurs in this celebration that challenges the province, preserves cultural heritage and promotes the traditions and identities of the region.

The incumbent of Culture emphasized that "from the Ministry of Culture we have with profound pride the festivities of this people, that reflect the wealth of their traditions, the identity of our people and our collective commitment to keeping our Afro-colonial heritage alive.

He added that "we put an end to the efforts of the festival and of the town of Portobelo, which year after year make this unique cultural demonstration possible.

We reaffirm our commitment to continue to work on projects of preservation, sustainable development and cultural strengthening to ensure that Portobelo remains a historic and cultural reference for present and future generations, "added Herrera.

For her part, Vice Minister of Culture Arianne Benedetti emphasized "we have brought a bus full of communicators to live this story. Safeguarding cultural heritage is a task for all. Help us get the world to know what Portobelo has to offer.

I also congratulate everyone who makes this event possible. "From the Ministry of Culture, we are taking this very seriously. Colón, believe it! There are great projects for this province."

The festival included crafts and gastronomic fairs, masquerades, paintings and crafts, as well as an artistic presentation with 19 groups from Densan and 10 from Congos from the provinces of Panama, Veraguas, Bocas del Toro and Colón as well as from the communities of Portobelo and Puerto Lindo.

The event also had a pictorial exhibition at the Afro-Panamanian memory museum at Portobelo's Royal Customs.
