Panama 24, March 2025 - The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and La Prensa Corporation, S.A. (Corpress) signed an agreement with the aim of promoting collaboration with "La Rocha de la Lectura," a project that aims to highlight the winners of the Ricardo Miró National Literature Competition.
The Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, expressed "every bench occupied by children, youth, parents, teachers and visitors, is an art work carefully inspired by the iconic literature of our leading Panamanian authors and will be a profound connection with our cultural identity."
The launch of this project was launched at the Margot Fonteyn dance building of the City of the Arts. The literary banks are located in the City of the Arts and soon at the Casco Antiguo, with the works of great authors such as Guillermo Sánchez Borbón with "El AHogado," under the pseudonym of Tristan Solarte, "Plenilunio" of Rogelio Sinan, "Agony of the Queen" of Consuelo Tomas, "La mira de Icaro" by Pedro Rivera, "Passenger of Transit" by elsie Alvarado, among others.
The five banks of the Casco Antiguo pay tribute to the works "Life that forgets" by Justo Arroyo, "La coffin de uso" by Rosa María Britton, "Gaviotas de Cruz Abierta" by Diana Moran, "Estado de la blood" by José Antonio Carr and "Panama in the memory of the seas" by Manuel Oretes Nieto.
The "Retirement Course" was created to promote this habit of reading in children, youth and adults, with a creative and inspiring way, with a view to spreading to other provinces. The banks simulate an open book and have a clear fragment of each work.
