The City of Las Artes exhibits 35 works and tells about the history of Panama Canal

The University of Ganexa Art, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, presents the exhibition "Sovereignty of the Panama Canal: Reallocations from the Art," a sign that commemorates the national pride of a Panamanian channel and the contribution that artists have made throughout history in strengthening their sovereignty.
The exhibition, to be visited free of charge at the Galería de la Ciudad de las Artes until March 7, brings together the talent of 30 Panamanian artists with 35 plastic and photo works.
The pieces reflect different historic moments of the Panama Canal, from the fight for the recovery of sovereignty to its expansion and its economic importance for the country.
The exhibition also highlights the role of plastic artists in this historic process, showing works dating back to 1977, such as the watercolor entitled "Untrue Future," which currently addresses climate change challenges and other issues that feature issues such as mass migration while building the channel of Afro-Antillean, European and Asian groups.
The attendees will appreciate a variety of technologies, including oil, acrylic, collage, drawing, inks, photo, sculptures with expansive fibers and an artistic installation of a boat.
Some of the most representative pieces have titles such as: "Canal Workers," "The Birth of Panama," "Panama Soberana," "The Celebration of a Hito" and "Hula Perpetua."
The participating artists include Carlos Palomino, Nilsa Justavino, Rodney Zelenka, José Blas Petit, Luis Rudas, Ricaurte Martínez, Franz Delgado, Juan Rodríguez Lozada, Leslie Araúz Viloria, Giuseppe Machado, Fernando Santos, Alexis Benalcázar, Celica Sánchez and Jhony Campines.
Ricaurter Martínez, an organizer of this exhibition, expressed: "The Ministry of Culture reaffirms its commitment to the development of the arts and national identity, promoting spaces for reflection and artistic expression about important historic issues for Panama."
The exhibition will be open from Monday to Saturday, from 8: 00 a.m. to 6: 00 p.m., at the Galería de la Ciudad de las Artes.
