The Ministry of Culture reaffirms its commitment to the preservation of cultural traditions by joining with the organization of the 52nd Folkloric Meeting of Canajagua, to be held from 3 to 7 January 2025 in the community of Macaracas, Province of Los Santos.

That event, recognised for its cultural and heritage value, highlighted the representation of the play of the Holy Kings Wines, a macaraquan tradition that has lasted for more than 200 years. The staging, held at the historic Rogelio square "Gelo" Cordoba, involves children, adolescents and adults of the community in the roles of the Child God, the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, King Herod and the Kings Wines of the East.

Jaime Pérez, spokesperson for the organizing committee, noted that this event also includes the traditional board of pintering, a solidarity activity in which the community builds a quincha house for a family that needs housing. "It's an event that strengthens the bonds of brotherhood and reflects our people's solidarity spirit," Pérez emphasized.

The meeting will also offer a wide range of folkloric events, such as the night of violins, saloma contest, mejorana touch and seatling, a parade of carts, at which the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera will be the champion and expected crown of the event's queen, that this year will be S. M. Nohelys Anays González Vergara.

The Ministry of Culture invites the entire population to participate in this significant event, which celebrates the cultural legacy and identity of Panamanian people.
