The Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, with his work team, met with representatives and owners of different theater halls in Panama at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture.

The main aim of the meeting was to discuss the current situation of the theater sector and to explore strategies for its artistic, economic and sustainable development.

At the meeting, Minister Herrera emphasized the importance of formalizing the portfolio of theatres and propose the creation of a National Network of theatres. "We need to know who we are and where we are to understand how much culture contributes to the country," she stated.

He also emphasized that the Ministry required concrete information to propose projects and explain the budget to the State.

For his part, Abdiel Tapia, owner of El Saloncito de Abdiel, described his meeting as productive and hopeful. "It's encouraging that government management is starting this type of dialogues. People who work in culture need state support," she said.

The themes discussed during the meeting included: Identification and registration of theatres in the Cultural System, Formalization and establishment of the National Network of Theatres and implementation of Cultural Passage for school students.

The meeting was attended by representatives of well-known theatres such as: Teatro La Plaza, Artemisa, Teatro Pacific, Teatro ABA, Teatro Guild, Teatro La Estado, Mi Teatro, Teatro En Circulo, El Saloncito de Abdiel and the National Teatro Patronato.

It was agreed to conduct regular meetings at the Ministry of Culture to coordinate future actions and to define a Roadmap to strengthen the theater sector and secure its sustainable growth.
