The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), at a press conference, announced the first edition of the National Cortometrage Competition in Panama, thanks to policies to promote the film and audiovisual industry of the Panamanian state.

The competition aims at young people from 18 to 25 and aims at promoting film and audiovisual activity through the creation of short films and strengthening the film market with a more diversity of our national production.

I also note that this new initiative represents an important step by our country towards the professionalization of the film industry and will give our artists a platform so that more and more people can develop their art and passion every day, and this is vital because it contributes to strengthening an ecosystem of sustainable film production at a time.

MiCultura has been dedicated to promoting the formation of a new generation of filmmakers, including writers, producers, directors, sonists and many other technical skills that will allow them to display their skills and creative skills in a professional environment.

The qualifying board shall consist of international film industry professionals, who acted with neutrality with respect to evaluating the content of works and projects.

B / 80,000 (80,000 pat) will be awarded and will be distributed as follows:
5 awards for Fictional short films). Each winning project will receive as an award the amount of SIETE MIL BALBOAS CON 00 / 100 (B /. 7.000.00).
5 awards for Documentary short films. Each winning project will be awarded the amount of MINCO MIL BALBOAS CON 00 / 100 (B /. 5,000.00).
2 awards for Animation Shortings. Each winning project will be awarded DIEZ MIL BALBOAS CON 00 / 100 (B /. 10,000.00).

The press conference was followed by the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, and his assistants and directors from the Ministry of Culture, Arianne Beneetti and his deputy Minister of Culture and Ivis Montenegro, General Secretary of Culture and Sheila González, National Director of Cinema and María Cecilia Arias, Director of the Filling Commission of the Ministry of Commerce and Mine Industries and members of Associne, Pro cinema and Red Crea and Red de Festivals of Panama.
