With the approval at the Assembly's plenary session of the third debate of Project No. 79, only an executive's sanction remains for 22 high educational and technical institutes of Fine Arts and Folklore, located throughout the country, to come back to the level of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura).

The initiative, amending Act 175 of 2020, General of Culture and lays down other provisions, will allow these educational establishments currently under the supervision of the Ministry of Education (Meduca) to be re-integrated into MiCultura, including their budgets, goods and infrastructure.

The Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, expressed his enthusiasm after his unanimous approval and emphasized the importance of the return of these centers and the start of the transition process. That process will be undertaken with the collaboration of a special commission that will be formed after the sanction of President José Raúl Mulino.

That temporary commission, as detailed in the bill, will be composed of representatives of MiCultura and Meduca as well as teachers and administrative officials and will coordinate actions necessary for an effective transition.

Minister Herrera also emphasized the positive impact that this project will have on strengthening artistic education, stating that it will open up new opportunities for young talents to dream great.
