Maruja Herrera, Minister of Culture, made a tour with local authorities of Colón and management of the Ministry with the aim of coordinating actions and creating alliances for the operation of the Colón Center of Art and Culture.

The Minister emphasized MiCultura's responsibility to help vulnerable children and youth at social risk, and emphasized the importance of cultural centers as spaces for development of soft and transformation skills for individuals.

"It's our priority to cancel accounts, secure the security of the site, design the right legal structure, hire suitable personnel and complete the structure," Herrera emphasized.

For his part, Abel Aronátegui, Cultural Coordinator, stated: "as a cultural and colonist manager, I believe that this centre of art and culture will represent a real, social, economic and mental transformation in the colonese community and people from these artistic expressions that will converge here."

"That peaceful coexistence, that culture of peace that will promote this space, and I have no doubt that from anything that's been generated here, this will have a great impact on the country as well," she added.

The Minister was accompanied by Julio Hernández, Governor of the Province of Colón, Marisín Cedeño, Deputy Governor, Mercedes González, Secretary for Public and Governmental Affairs at the Ministry of the Presidency, María del Carmen Ríos, Under-Secretary for Social Affairs at the President's office and directors at MiCultura and cultural managers.
