With artistic, cultural and recreational activities, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), at the Celebration of Grandfather's Day and Granny's Day, organized a cultural presentation with approximately 65 older adults from the Social Security Fund's (CSS)'s Old Age Program.
The activity was performed at the Profa Welfare Center. Lilia Atencio de Vásquez at Lefevre Park with the participation of MiCultura's personnel and promoters of the Metropolitan Cultural Center, where integration activities were conducted, workshops of folklore, relaxation, sculpture, stamping and musical interpretation, among others.
The meeting included the presentation of the Old Age Chorus, "Tertulias and Songs," directed by Blanca Choy, with emotional and contagious performances, by ladies of the musical group created by MiCultura at that centre.
Enrique Noel, National Director of Cultural Rights and Citizenship, stated that "this is an inter-institutional effort and a very important event, to be able to get close and work with the older adult who is also part of the present and future of the country."
For his part, Lastenia González, Social Worker, stated that it's important that "our new generations recognize that older adults are responsible for that cultural transmission and for all that experience and wisdom that are part of our ancestors's affectionate family heritage."
The activity was organized by the Cultural Rights and Citizenship Section of MiCultura with the National Programme of Pensiones, Retirees and Senior Citizens of the Social Security Fund (CSS) supported by the Ministry of Social Development (Mides).
