With an investment of about B /. 72 million advanced projects at the historic centre of Panama City

These projects in this area of the capital were detailed in an Open Cabildo that was developed today at the Casco Antiguo and where representatives of the different institutions involved in the works became present.

The event was organized by the Ministry of the President through the Tourist Cabinet Secretariat, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) and the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP).

To address the issue of "The Growth of the Historic Center of Panama City" civil society, businesses and local authorities were convened with the aim of informing and sensitizing about investment projects, their implementation phases, jobs to be undertaken, benefits with regard to employability, improved access and mobility, parking spaces, street rehabilitation and so forth.

To that end, the technical table that was chaired by the Tourist Cabinet and formed by the ATP, MiCultura through the office of the Casco Antiguo (OCA), MOP, Mas Bus, Bahia Sanitation and the Municipality of Panama have worked tirelessly in recent months.

The Open Forum presented the Study, Design, Construction and Finance of the streets of the District of Panama (RenglN 4), covering Avenue B and streets of the historic centre, which is currently being run by the MOP and includes new sidewalks at Ave B, delimitation of the three lanes (one for exclusive use of buses), improvements in light and arborisation in the area. All these jobs will help to improve mobility at the exit of the Casco Antiguo and to remove the traffic generated at this Avenue.

The project also includes the design and construction of critical points at the avenues Frangipani, Balboa, Cinta Costera and Plaza 5 de Mayo. It includes the design and construction for improvements to the health sewer system of Calidonia, Bella Vista and surrounding areas, whose study was submitted by the Panama Sanitation Program. It's been planned that the conduct of this work will involve an investment of B / 3 million and that will benefit 890.691 people from the area.

Added to the improvements of the streets of the District of Panama, we have also found the Study, Design, Construction and Finance of the Renewal of the Urban Infrastructure of El Chorrillo, that will benefit a resident population of at least 20,000 people, creating more safety and accessibility, as a modernization of the management of the road network. The investment of renewal is at the order of the B /. 65.229,358.14 and will include the rehabilitation of 42 sections of streets, design and construction of the structure of paving, drains, rain drawers, pedestrian sidewalks, cages and seedlings, intersectoralities, and intersectists, and intersectists, and intersectists.

Another project - that will generate about 150 jobs and will benefit 40,000 people from the sectors of Barraga, San Felipe, Santa Ana and El Chorrillo with an investment of B /. 3,802,427.94 - is the construction of the Center of Integral Mobility - Puerta Sur. It consists of a Multimodal Terminal at Puerta Sur with connection to Ripple 3 - Barraño, as well as the enabling of 225 parking spaces with police and municipal surveillance, pedestrian accesses from El Chorro to the area close to the Ripple and Rehab of the Ripple and the Reparture of the Ripinteres, a photovoltaic plant to supply the site, just to mention some of the jobs that will be performed.

As part of the actions that are added to the comprehensive proposal put forward by the National Government to improve the tourism offer of the sector, there is an urban mobility project from the historic centre, involving the purchase of five electrical buses and two public transport chargers for The Green Road that will be the first in the country and Central America. That route will be operated by Mi Bus, after a contract signed last May 5 between the Tourism Authority of Panama and China Yutong Bus Co, with an estimated date of delivery by April 24, 2024.

The implementation of the Green Public Transport Route will benefit more than 40,000 people living in the communities of San Felipe, Santa Ana and El Chorrillo, as well as the floating population of visitors and tourists who have as their first choice this destination. It will also help to phase out the entry of vehicles to the historic centre of the capital town, bearing in mind that at the time of planning for this area by 1920, car traffic was not considered.

To complement the above-mentioned investment projects, reference was made to the implementation of the fifth version of the Workshop School of the Old Town of Panama (Inadeh) and with the collaboration of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (Aecid), the Ministry of Culture (Mitradel), the Ministry of Social Development (Mides), the Institute of Training and Training for Human Development and the Ministry of Housing and Regional Management (Miviot), the Ministry of Labour and Labour Development (Mitradel) and the Social Development (Mides) and the Board of San Felipe and private organizations.

The workshop offers an opportunity for comprehensive training and training in restoration, gastronomy, digital production, creative economy and technical training in carpentry, plumbing, electricity and welding and with other specialities, and this represents a response to the employment inclusion of young people between 16 and 25 years old at risk of exclusion from the capital neighborhoods of El Chorrillo, Santa Ana and Calidonia. Through this training, there is a production of jobs of 75% of participants and associations through cooperativism.
