With a repertoire of Latin American popular music by the Panama Quartet, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) initiated the second version of the Conference Group Festival, to be held from October 14 to 30 with free concerts and training workshops for youth and adults as part of the program of the Festivals of the Arts that have been held this October.

Susana Salas and Víctor Mata at the violines, Roberto Quintero at the cello and José Piuence at the viola, form the Panama Quartet, a group that was born from Camerata Panama and have had an opportunity to represent the country at festivals in Colombia through the Panamanian embassy in the South.

It was pleasant to observe, at the opening night of this festival, a fully filled Anita Villalaz Theater with an audience that enjoyed a Latin American musical tour that included pieces such as La Vencdora (Colombia), Vales Venezolano (Venezuela), the Pito Santa Librada, Socavón del Canajagua, Cumbia La Espicadilla, Mosaic of tamboreras (Panama) and other compositions that were appreciated by the audience.

"We celebrate music as an art that provoke aesthetics in the listener, expressing feelings and circumstances, thoughts and increasingly performing a therapeutic function, with this festival we celebrate music in its dimension, with its abstract, poetic and enigmatic character that makes it something privileged among the arts," emphasized Isabel Burgos, national director of The Arts of MiCultura organizing this musical encounter.

The concert schedule followed on Saturday, October 15th with the Hands Song grouping with Sin Ae and Ariel González who delight and surprised them with a four-hand concert at the National Library of Panama with a varied repertoire with compositions designed for this instrument.

While the Cerrud Quartet did the same at Juan Manuel Cedeño Gallery on Sunday 16, offering an evening with clarinet music performing classical works by different composers among them Panamanian.

There will be more than ten groupings between duos, quartetes, quintetes and groups dedicated to classical, orchestral and popular music that will embody musically spaces such as the Anita Villalaz Theater, the National Library, Juan Manuel Cedeño Gallery and Balboa Theater, among others.
