MiCultura pays tribute to Benny Moré at Bicentennial Gala

The Spanish Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), in collaboration with the big band of the Institutional Protection Service (SPI), successfully introduced the "Tributo a Benny Moré" Gala at the Anita Villalaz Theater.

The musical performance, produced by choreographer Jovana Velarde, from "Una paso a la Viez," featured the outstanding participation of sonero Liusben Silva, who offered a first-level magazine with best themes of "Barbaro del tima," with about 20 leading musicians from the big band.

Mambo, Son Montuno, boleros, among other danced genres from the golden age of Latin music were accompanied by a body of dancers who have shown at an earlier stage the lessons that week after week teach them in the segments of A Paso at once, of MiCultura.

Themes such as "Nice and Tasty," "How was it," "Cienfuegos," "La Culebra," "Staywill," "Yiri Yiri Bon," "Today as yesterday," and among others, were an important part of the repertoire at the artistic and cultural gala, with the arrangements of master Grimaldo Muñoz, who directed the PRI orchestra.

Bartolomé Maximiliano Moré Gutiérrez (1919- 1963), known in the artistic world as Benny Moré, was one of the most celebrated Cuban songwriters, master of all genres of popular music of the island, with innately fluidity in the composition of themes and arrangements and a privileged voice of tenor, whose artistic expression made him worthy of recognition throughout the world.
