As part of its strategies to strengthen the film industry in Panama, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) through the Fondo Cine of the National Board of Cinema (DICINE) will support the fifteen projects selected during the March call.

Thus MiCultura, after receiving the projects from representatives of film festivals and film and audiovisual professionals chose from technical and feasibility considerations and with the condition that they have to report their expenses and complete their work this year.

That support promotes film development by training Panamanian talent in different areas and by meeting the aims of the State at the cultural, social, tourist and economic level, as cinema forms a tool for social transformation and a means of transferring cultural models.

The projects chosen by the National Cinema Management and previously supported by MiCultutra are The International Film Festival of Panama (IFF Panama), International Cortometry Festival Hayah, International Documentary Festival Acampadoc, International Film Festival Poor Panaledia, Icaro Festival, GECU Training workshops (Experimental University Cinema Group), Panama Animation and the International Human Rights Festival Bannabá Fest.

Meanwhile, they have been benefiting from first-time support this year, Panama Horor Films, Chiriquí Methoo Fest's Cortometrics Festival, Jumara International Indigenous Cinema Festival in Panama, Escuela de Asestiadores and Áro Cinema Show at Colón.

The first Laboratory for the Development of Cinematographic Projects from Central America and the Caribbean, First Domenance of Titles in Panama, Cinema Retiro in San Miguelito and Documentaria de Author are among the new initiatives.
DICINE aims to promote, support and promote the development of the film industry in Panama. It also grants funds to the industry for production of film works through the Fondo Cine National Competition that takes place every year.
