Representatives of about 24 groups of artists, creators, cultural managers and collective entities have been told about the progress and Roadmap to be followed with regard to the promotion and protection of cultural rights and copyright.
The presentation of the progress on this issue was undertaken by the National Copyright Office (DNA) of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and issues related to works registration, payment of fees, collective management agencies, licensations, agreements and treaties were addressed, among others.
Idania Fernández, national director of copyright law emphasized that the quote would serve to "share and exchange ideas to improve our management."
Fernández argued that this was only the beginning, as there will be other ones that will discuss the issues as they emerge so "I hope that they will see an ally in us in all the initiatives we are going to conduct forward."
For his part, Ellis Newman, national director of artistic education emphasized that this meeting with different groups is to keep an open channel of communication and that they can Exteriorize their views on specific issues as the process goes forward.
Following the exhibition there was a period of questions and answers where assistants received information that helped them clear their doubts about some aspects related to collective entities, the registration of works and royalty.
The meeting was attended by José Ismael Herrera, General Secretary of MiCultura and Yessenia Sánchez, Director of Special Projects of the Inter-American Development Bank (BID), who gave a presentation of the progress made with the funds of the international body with MiCultura projects.
