Panama June 31, 2026. The official presentation of the book Edgardo De León Madariaga was held as part of the National Crafts Fair: the creative genius, a work written by Rolando Domíngo that pays tribute to one of the most influential figures in the study and conservation of Panama's architecture and traditions.

The paper brings together a valuable visual catalogue of the original designs of León Madariaga and details his handmade and his production process step by step. The text also incorporates a number of emotional testimonies from his relatives and experts who have been closely shared with his master and have been both human and technical about his profound impact on his and his cultural identity.

The Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, expressed that "Edgardo de León's contribution to the Panamanian cultural heritage is unquestionable. His work made him an obligation reference of modern, elegant and sophisticated pollera. Each pits, lace and trembling transformed into elements of our panamenity that today form part of our national memory."

"That literary work constitutes a historic, artistic and cultural document, enriched with photographs that give back his age, with testimonies from those who met him and with original drawings that reveal his creative genius's process," she added.

During the ceremony, an official surrender of the work was made to members of the de León González family, with a respectful tribute to the memory of the unforgettable folloclist. Also, a copy was formally given to the Minister of Culture and with an institutional commitment to safeguard and disseminate the Panamanian artisan heritage for the knowledge of future generations.
