Panama, May 5, 2026. - The Ministry of Culture of Panama initiated a project called "Training of Fine Arts Teachers for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Art and Culture."

The initiative, implemented through the National Directorate for Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities, aims at strengthening the skills of the institutional teaching body to ensure full participation and recognition of the creative potential of this sector of the population in the cultural environment.

The first stage of this training process is entitled "Accessibility and Universal Learning Design (DUA) in higher artistic training" and will train 30 teachers as trainers. The training sessions are held from 4 to 8 May 2026 in the City of the Arts.

Training is provided by his specialist, DéBorah Grandez, Peru, who addresses fundamental contents such as the social model of disability, accessibility in artistic teaching, the design and adaptation of pedagogical experiences and the presentation of methodological proposals under the DUA approach.

During the opening event, it was emphasized that this project represents a significant step in strengthening the skills of fair arts teachers, whom she defined as key agents for a cultural transformation that promotes spaces without barriers.

The institution fulfils its commitment to the implementation of public policies that guarantee the true right of all citizens to access to art and culture under conditions of equity.
