Panama City, April 30, 2026. - On Sunday 3 May, at 9: 00 p.m., by Telemeter Canal 13, "Cultura Rock," the first rock band television contest in Panama, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with MEDCOM and C11 Films, will come across the country to discover and project the emerging talent of gender.

"Cultura Rock" was born as a platform that aims to Visibilize national groupings and connect with new audiences, betting on television and streaming as tools of cultural democratization. The project will bring together gangs from different regions of the country, including Panama, Chiriquí (Boquete) and Veraguas, the latter as a meeting point for the central provinces.

The national call exceeded the 50 registered bands, of which 17 have been selected to participate in this first season. Each episode will gather between four and five groups that will come up to propose their music to a specialized jury and public.

The program will have 6 episodes in total: five 30-minute chapters and a great end of an hour. The fifth episode will select the best five bands that will advance to the decisive stage, where the winning grouping of "Rock Culture" will be defined.

The Jury includes well-known reference points from the Panamanian musical scene: Bethy García, vocalist of Filtro Medusa, Leonte Bordanea of Instinto and Jorge Luis Escobar of Tamayo Records, who will bring their experience to guide participants in their artistic and professional growth process.

During the launch, Cultural Minister María Eugenia Herrera emphasized the importance of generating spaces for youth and emerging talent, noting that this initiative aims to offer a solid platform where artists can develop, believe their skills and be projected at national and international level.

For his part, Manuel Pico, middlemaster at MEDCOM mentioned that the project represents an opportunity for rock to once again have a leading place in the musical scene, inspiring new generations through the screen. That project challenges a new generation of artists who have the desire to have a race and be able to project themselves.

Justices agreed that rock in Panama has never been missing but has been independently advanced and that this program will strengthen its professionalism by promoting originality, passion and artistic identity.

More than a competition, "Cultura Rock" stands as a display that celebrates the musical diversity of the country, promotes creative industries and reaffirms the state's commitment to cultural development.
