Panama City, October 29, 2025. The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) held the 4th Assembly of the National Meeting of Cultures (NEC), a place where representatives from all cultural sectors of the country conversed with the aim of presenting the advances, results and projections of the construction process of the National Plan of Cultures 2025-2032.

The event, held at the Roque Cordero Auditorium of the City of the Arts, brought together cultural managers, artisans, artists, representatives of native and Afro-descendant peoples and strategic allies.

During the day, the results and projections of Panama at Mondacult, the general progress report of the National Cultures Meeting, the Roadmap and the achievements achieved during 2025 were addressed, including workshops, workshops and spaces for dialogue that have resulted in defining the priorities and strategies of the cultural sector.

One of the key points of the agenda was the presentation of the Civil Consultation process, which advanced to its second stage with the implementation of face and digital surveys as well as the presentation of the preliminary results of the qualitative and pilot phase of polls.

The meeting also included the induction of new members of the NEC and the definition of targets and commitments by sector, such as the creation of QR codes to facilitate public participation and monitoring of the process.

In her statement, the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, emphasized the importance of the collaborative work that gave shape to the National Plan of Cultures and stated that "this National Plan of Cultures 2025-2032 is the map we have drawn together. It's not a directive that has been put into place and that's the result of our cultural wealth and diversity. I deeply appreciate the commitment shown by each organization, by the native peoples, Afro-descendants and local managers, whose voice defined the road map that we have today in our hands."

Herrera emphasized that 2026 will be a key year for the implementation of first actions and the monitoring of results: "Our commitment is with measurement. We will apply robust indicators that you ourselves helped to define, ensuring that every invested and every action achieved has a real impact on the well-being of citizenship and on the dignity of cultural workers."

Finally, she called on participants to continue to advance this initiative from the territories and reaffirmed that the National Cultures Plan should become the tool to consolidate culture as a strategic pillar for rebuilding the social fabric and strengthening Panamanian identity.

The National Plan for Cultures is a strategic initiative led by the Ministry of Culture, and it's a road map that tells us where we are going as a country in matters of art, heritage, memory, diversity and cultural participation.
