Panama, October 11, 2025. - Activities to celebrate the Hispanic Heritage Month began in New York. Bruce Blakeman County Executive paid tribute to Panama by giving recognition and county keys to Maricel Cohen de Mulino, first lady of the Republic and María Eugenia Herrera, Minister of Culture.

The mayor of Mineola, Paul Pereira, gave them the keys to the city and Senator Jack Martins from the Senate stated October 10 as Panama's Day at Long Island.

At this event, Panamanian high-profile people were recognized in New York as Panama's ambassador to the United States, José Miguel Alemán, Panama's ambassador to the OAS, Ana Irene Delgado and Panama's representative to the UN, Eloy Alfaro and the consues Roosevelt Thayer and Georgia Athanasopulos.

At the event was presented a typical set that did a display of tradition with our dances and popular band the Beachers.

On the other hand, the building was illuminated with our flag's colors as our national hymnus's notes sounded, as performed by Idania Dowman's jazz lady.

Prior to the protocolar event, the County Human Rights Commissioner Jackie Carvalho welcomed local authorities where they shared with outstanding Panamanian people living in New York as entrepreneurs Gregorio and Onida Mayers, Jimmy Mackormack, James Moore and Supreme Court Judges Rhonda Thomlinson, Michelle Jhonson and Jackeline Williams.
