Panama, September 29, 2025. - The Manuel F. Záate Museum of Guararararé's town has a new attraction: a bust by Professor Dora Pérez de Zárate, that was developed amidst the celebration of the National Mejorara Festival 2025.

Professor Zárate did an intense job as a researcher and promoter of national folklore, and was dedicated to organizing and performing the Folk week at the Panamanian Man's Museum, today Reina Torres de Arauz, with leading folklorists.

The bust, which was sculpted and donated by Ricaurte Martínez, rector of the University of Ganexa Art and established at the entrance to the Guararé museum, next to the bust of Professor Manuel F. Zárate, was developed by the family of the Zárate husbands with the national director of Museums, Raúl Castro Zachrisson.

The event was accompanied by Arianne Benedetti, Vice-Minister of Culture and Ivis Moreno, General Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Gianni Bianchini, Director of The Arts.

The Manuel F. Zátiate Museum was inaugurated in 1969 at Guararé to honor his leading folloclist Manuel F. Zátiate and his work in his study of Panamanian culture. Together with his wife, Professor Dora Pérez de Zátiate, they dedicated themselves to collecting and preserving Panama's folklore traditions.

The museum offers information about the history and culture of the district, feature typical costumes, works and popular songs.
