The Ministry of Culture, together with institutions and representatives of the congo community, held a key meeting to strengthen actions to safeguard Panama's intangible cultural heritage in Colón province.

The meeting had the participation of the directors of MiCultura, Amilight Stanziola, Director of Cultural Heritage, Maidys Chen, Director of Copyright, Beatriz Castagnet, Director of Legal Advice, Emma Gomez, Head of the Intangible Heritage Department, Abel Aronategui, Director of the Center of Art and Culture of Colón, Joel Ceas Director of the office of the historic Centre of Colón and César Miranda, Regional Director of Culture at Qzx23qqQ, accompanied by Vícador and Director of the National Research and Research and Research Section of the National Research and Research and Research and Research Section of the National Research and Research and Research Section of the National Research and Research and Research Section of the Civil Research and Research.

The representatives of the Ministry of Culture addressed the importance of protecting the manifestations recognized by UNESCO and preventing the inappropriate use of cultural elements, such as the recent case of the congo song "Ola de la Mar," used in an urban gender format by singer Alexa Kayl with an offensive and distorted content.

During the meeting, legal and cultural strategies were discussed to safeguard the heritage. Krishna Camarena and Emma Gómez emphasized the role of communities and institutions to preserve traditions, while Beatriz Castañeda and Maidys Chen explain the necessary legal mechanisms to protect cultural heritage from copyright and collective law.

Eleonor Salazar, carrier of the congo oral tradition, expressed his concern about the impact of these events on cultural identity, reaffirming the need for tighter actions to avoid future violations, asking that the video be removed from the platforms and social networks where it circulates.

The congo groups expressed their nuisance and concern about this fact, which they consider an attack against their traditions and demand that regulations be put in place to guarantee the protection of copyright and respect for cultural heritage.

The Director of Cultural Heritage, Samileth Stanziola, reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Culture to protecting the congo legacy and announced the co-ordination of new measures with the National Commission for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, ensuring the integrity and respect for these manifestations essential to national identity.
