The 52 version of the Canajagua Folk Conference was with great success in the Macaracas district of Los Santos province, an event that brought together more than 30,000 people, with local and foreign visitors.

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) was an active sponsor of this important celebration, and it pays tribute to those who bequeathed our music, customs, traditions and folklore to us.

At the opening, Gianni Bianchini, with Folklore's chief, José Alberto Sosa, members of the Board and local authorities, performed the ribbon cut and participated in the crowned event of Reina 2025, Nohelys González Vergar.Also, a scroll of recognition was given to Mr. José Gutiérrez for his outstanding work in the conservation of the intangible cultural heritage, as part of 52 years of the meeting and the staging of the Popular Drama of Los Santos Reyes Magos.

On the second day, an emotional "pounding board" was put into place for the construction of a quincha house, an activity that brought together the community in an act of solidarity and teamwork.

That process not only preserves an ancestral technique but also teaches new generations the value of our roots.

The Ministry of Culture submitted to the UNESCO, in March 2024, the file of "The construction process of the quincha house and its sewer board" to be included in the list of emergency safeguard of Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is expected that this nomination, the result of which will be known in December 2025, will advance the recovery of traditional techniques and the use of natural resources such as plants, bejuks, timber trees and tidal types.

It responded to the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, to receive the flag of the meeting, an event that distinguished the national director of the arts, Gianni Bianchini, with the honor of bearing the flag of the event.

The traditional Reels Parade was one of the most awaited moments, with 17 carts, carefully decorated, passing through the streets of Macaracas to the rhythm of cheerful tunes. They proudly represented the customs and traditions of the Panamanian countryside.

The main wagon of the Ministry of Culture led the parade with high authorities from the Ministry of Culture with members of the Board.

Another outstanding activity was the Acordion Daniel Dorindo Cárdenas contest, in honor of the renowned Panamanian musician. The winners this year were:
First place: Alejandro Solís
Second place: Ramón Saldaña
place 3: Nieves Pérez

Also, at the Plaza Gelo Córdoba Hall, 12 replicas of the best works of the Roberto Lewis Visual arts contest from 2022, 2023 and 2024 were exhibited, bringing visual arts closer to new communities.

The festival continued with the staging of the Popular Drama of Los Santos Reyes Magos, at Rogelio Gelo Córdoba public square, at which the vice-ministers of Culture Arianne Benedetti, a play that converts the main stage into the Palace of Herod, a scene performed by young talents from the community, reaffirmed the pride and cultural roots of the region.

The Folk Reunion of Canajagua is without a doubt a celebration that keeps alive the essence of Panamanian folklore and engulves the national spirit.
