The deputy ministers of culture, Arianne Benedetti and María Cecilia Arias, representative of the Panama Film Commission, represented the country at the American Film Market (AFM), held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The event, recognized as the main event for the purchase, sale and development of films in the Americas, was an ideal stage to highlight Panama as a privileged location for international production.
During their participation, Benedetti and Arias held strategic meetings with executives and producers, highlighting the geographical, cultural and logistics benefits that the country offers for the film industry.
The Panamanian delegation later travelled to Los Angeles, where they reached with entertainment giants such as Warner Bros., HBO, Netflix, Reset Content and Sony Pictures.
The aim of these meetings was to understand the specific requirements of the studies and to analyse the factors that have an impact on the selection of locations for their projects.
That effort was intended to bring about more film production and to lay the foundations for public policies that encouraged foreign investment.
The proposals highlight improvements in fiscal, migration and logistics incentives to facilitate the arrival of international production.
These efforts aim at generating direct and indirect jobs, boosting the economy and opening up new opportunities for Panamanian audiovisual professionals, strengthening the country as a competitive and attractive destination in the global film market.
