The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) participates actively at the International Book Fair (FIL), an event that, under the motto "The Language That embraces us," takes place until this Sunday, August 18, bringing together writers, publishers and literature lovers from around the world.

Through workshops, talks, book presentations and exhibitions, MiCultura aims to promote the habit of reading and bring literature closer to public of all ages, from children to adults.

From the stand of MiCultura, the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, reaffirmed the commitment of the institution to contribute to education and strengthen community ties through culture and art. "We have strong ties and culture strengthens empathy and love in the community of the hand of education," emphasized the Minister, who was accompanied at his opening by his educational counterpart, Lucy Molinar. Both of them took the opportunity to thank the work team for his dedicated and his efforts at each of the literary activities scheduled for this fair.

Since the start of the fair, the National Cultural Rights and Citizenship Office has been performing activities for the children, such as face pint and the presentation of the ventriloquist Erika with the puppet Anita and the clown Chiripón with his group Arco Iris, who delight the public with interesting tales and advice.

For its part, the Office of Equal Opportunities has put forward the "Barrier-free reading" initiative, with an outstanding feature of Braille audio-books for people with visual and hearing disabilities, showing how reading can enrich life and open up new knowledge and experiences.

Until Sunday, August 18, the space of MiCultura will also offer an opportunity to buy copies of Panamanian authors, including works leading to important literary competitions such as the Gustavo Batista Young Poetry and the Carlos Francisco Changmarín contest, among others.

For the last 20 years, the International Book Fair of Panama has been an important meeting point for literature lovers, bringing more than 1 million assistants and with the participation of more than 800 international and 4,000 national authors.

MiCultura invites everyone to explore, discover and enjoy the many activities and literary meetings that FIL Panama has to offer these days filled with discoveries and the pleasure of reading.
