On 9 August 2024, the Ministry of Culture announced that Victoria Rodriguez Joseph was the winner of the Young Poetry Contest Gustavo Batista Cedeño 2024 with the work "Cantos hallucinated to provoke dreams," signed under the pseudonym "Zara Cundé."
The Jury, composed of Kafka Vergara, María Feliza Domínguez and Héctor Aquiles González, chose Rodriguez's work for the following reasons: "It's a poemary with expressivity without falling into lexical excesses with a rhythm that flows from verse to verse and that engulfs the reader.
"From a poetic perspective, the poet has a solid structure that denotes his author's poetic office. Finally, we have a coherence between the intention of his poetic discourse and his expressed message," the Jury added.
The award ceremony will be held in October and the winner will be awarded an award from B /. 5,000 balboas, a commemorative scroll and 75 copies of his work.
At the opening of copies, Gianni Bianchini, National Director of the Arts, Aleida De Gracia, Director of Letters, Julio César Morales, Notario Pública and his high-profile jury, congratulated Rodriguez for his outstanding contribution to national literature.
The contest was established by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), through the National Directorate of the Arts in 1992, with the aim of promoting production of new generation poets and pay tribute to the outstanding young poet Gustavo Batista Cedeño after his departure.
