As part of his Annual Season, the National Symphony Orchestra (OSN) of the Ministry of Culture invites the general public, loving classical music, to the concert "Nuestra Música," next Thursday, May 11 at the Balboa Theater, with the participation of the Mexican director, Héctor Guzmán, accompanied by the Panamanian soloist Juan Castillo at the Oboe.

The free event includes pieces from composers from Latin America and Panama, such as: Obertura Cubana, Tuco-Tico, Alma Llanera, La Boda de Luis Alonso, mejorana Mesano for Oboe and Orchestra among others.

Jorge Ledezma Bradley, director of the OSN I believe that "the public should not miss this concert. He will be greatly interested with the similarities and differences that exist in the music of different countries, though we all share common roots, as there are always elements that differentiate one music from another."

The guest director's information

Héctor Guzmán, who resides in the United States, is one of his generation's most distinguished and respected musicians. He was born in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, and was a leading director of the Symphony orchestras of Plano, Irving, San Angelo, and Corpus Christi in the United States. In 2004, he won an international contest "Seven Directors for a Batta," and became a leading director of the Jalisco Philharmonic.

Maestro Juan Edgardo Castillo Gómez.

The leading oboist of Panama's national symphony, currently holds a master's degree at Oboe at the National Institute of Music of Panama. He has been an oboist of the National Symphony Youth Plan and of the National Conservatory of Music of Panama. He also holds his title as a Bachelor's degree in Humanities with a specialization in music as a main instrument of the oboe. He's a creator and manager of the festivals of double rods of Central America and the Caribbean from 2004 to date. He's acted as a soloist and offered recitals at national and also abroad.
