< strong > National Government creates Commission for the Coordination of Creative and Cultural Industries < / strong >

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, signed Executive Decree 3 of 20 April 2023, established by the Commission for the Coordination of Creative and Cultural Industries (CCICC), with a responsibility to coordinate initiatives and identify strategic interventions for the improvement and competitive growth of the creative economy of the country.
The Commission for Coordination was established by agreement between the Ministry of Economics and Finance and the Ministry of Culture with a view to addressing these sectors with the main aim of creativity, production and promotion of distribution and commercialization of goods and services with cultural, artistic and heritage content.
According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), creative industries cover the publishing, audiovisual, phonographic, visual arts, performing arts and entertainment, tourism and material and intangible cultural heritage, artistic and cultural education, design, advertising, multimedia content, interactive audiovisual content and services software, fashion, news and information services and creative education.
The CCICC will have as an integral part of its work the intersectionality of public, mixed and private entities that are involved in the development of the creative economy of the country, coordinating and identifying initiatives that seek the growth of the creative and cultural economy.
It will serve as an instance for dialogue and co-ordination to agree strategic proposals by the creative and cultural industries and will be able to recommend the formulation and implementation of policies, plans, programmes, projects and proposals for policy developments to support competent agencies and entities in each sector.
In addition to advising the National Government on its national creative ecosystem and its creative and cultural industries, it will have a responsibility to recommend to local governments strategies and interventions for the growth and innovation of the national creative ecosystem and its creative and cultural industries.
The signing of this decree represents an important step in promoting and strengthening the creative economy and reaffirms the commitment of President Cortizo Cohen and his government to strengthening culture in Panama.
