To contribute to the professionalisation of the film and audiovisual industry, the Ministry of Culture, through the national direction of Cinematography and Audiovisual, develops the workshop "From paper to screen: Fundamental aspects for writing the script," dictated by filmmaker Alex Méndez Giner.
The main aim of the workshop is to introduce the participant to the writing of screenplay for cinematographic works and their subsequent development.
Alex Méndez Giner stated that for five continuous days, 35 participants will have a quality education about the aspects of script writing such as the premise and conception of the idea, dramatic structure and format, character development, narrative functions, plot, subplot, scene design and pitching among others.
Also, during his stay in Panama, he will conduct film talks at Ganexa University of Art, UMECIT and SERTV.
A good script is the most important pillar in the construction of an excellent production of films and in that sense the Minister of Culture, Giselle González Villarrué told participants that it's important to know and master every detail of the art of telling a story through cinema, so this is the beginning of a training day that was promised a year ago with the aim of strengthening the creative capabilities of members of the film and audiovisual industry.
The Minister invited participants to take advantage of the lessons for the development of Panamanian cinema and announced that an action workshop will soon be run.
Another fundamental aspect, according to Mendez Giner's filmmaker, is how to sell the story that potential producers have to support in the conduct of their ideas and according to the established program will promote their imaginative capacity and will attested to their expressive skills by performing different exercises.
Alex Méndez Giner currently holds workshops on different continents and works as a film teacher at the film and media arts department of Syracuse University, New York, combining his constant production with his responsibility to educate others in the art of cinema.
