The project "Taste del Barrio" currently 18 years old and supported by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) through the Casco Antiguo office (OCA) continues to gain public support with great success.

The project's concept aims at giving entrepreneurs (men and women) an opportunity to rescue food and products from neighborhoods such as Santa Ana, Chorrillo, San Felipe and Calidonia that will allow them to generate their own income.

Currently they are about 20 among entrepreneurs and craftsmen who participate in the project that provide their culinary experiences to both nationals and foreigners with mouths such as "pallet meat," "saus" and "fried fish" among other different manjares of the area, without leaving out the traditional "scattering" and the rich "rice with milk," stated Julissa Espinosa, Project Coordinator of the OCA.

In the development of the project, MiCultura has created a complete platform so that these "chef," can sell their products by installing a complete mobile restaurant with awnings, tables, heaters and additional ones are provided with their uniforms and their assistants.

The program includes training for participants to improve their knowledge in areas of food handling, customer management, new menu, purchases, income performance and so forth.

"Tears of the Barrio" is defined as a great family, where there will always be a smile accompanied by an unbeatable plate, and that's why she's 15 years old from being the only gastronomic proposal within the Panama Jazz Festival.
