From January 17, 2022, the Balboa Theater reopens its doors to the cultural sector of Panama, offering the promoters of Las Artes a year of free rental as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Culture to support the economic recovery of the country.

MiCultura will assume payment of insurance policies and Panamanian cultural companies will have an opportunity to conduct their events, bearing the costs of performing each of their production and proposals as well as payment of MiCultura's personnel, who will work overtime and the responsibility to enforce biosecurity measures established by the Ministry of Health.

"Culture has a great deal to do with the economy of countries, it contributes a great deal to the Gross Internal Product. Culture does not demand, culture gives life, self-esteem, national identity and these inputs make a country grow and develop," emphasized the Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro.

The events at the Balboa Theater will be scheduled in a coordinated manner with the national direction of Las Artes, as available in the calendar, and interested production companies should submit a formal request, by email, to Daniel Dominguez: ddominguez @ MiCultura.gob.pa and / or to: rfernandezz @ MiCultura.gob.pa

"The return of the Balboa Theater is very important for our industry, that has been affected by this pandemic, to have the Theater free of charge is an accomplishment," said Bishop Miró, President of the National Council for Culture, Entertainment, Tourism, Creative Industries and Purpose.

The first activity scheduled for 2022 is the presentation of the book "Literary Column. A Column for the Nation" by writers Ela Urriola, Javier Alvarado and Marco Ponce, to be held on Monday, January 17.

Likewise MiCultura invites you to start the 2021 concert season of the National Symphony Orchestra, which will be presented at the Teatro on January 28 at 7: 00 p.m. with free entrance for the public.
