The First Lady of the Republic, Yazmin Colón of Cortizo, participated as an honor witness to the signing of these technical assistance programs.
That partnership will allow training of Panamanian professionals and thus develop their knowledge of restoration technologies.
Paintings will be restored and found at the Palace of the Garzas.
To safeguard the cultural heritage of every Panamanian, the National Government through the Ministries of Culture and the Presidency signed technical cooperation programs with the Italian Embassy in Panama for the restoration of pictorial works found at the Palace of the Garzas.
On the Italian side, those elected to cooperate with the program are: the University of Siena, the Polytechnic of Turin and other academic, artistic or technical-scientific institutions of Italy. That partnership will allow for the training of Panamanian professionals so that they can acquire new tools and develop knowledge, using the experience of sister countries in techniques in restoration processes.
That agreement was the result of a great inter-institutional synergy between the teams at the Embassy of Italy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama, the Ministry of President, the First Lady's Office and MiCultura.
The First Lady of the Republic, Yazmín Colón of Cortizo, participated as an honor witness to the signing of these technical assistance programs, "as a love of the arts, history and culture, I'm pleased and excited to see that the Agreement on Cultural and Scientific Cooperation between the Republic of Panama and the Italian Republic regains its course and further tightens our bonds of friendship."
"We are committed to protecting and restoring the historic and ethical heritage and with the social responsibility that this entails, this is a commitment to the women and men of our country," emphasized Carlos Aguilar Navarro, Minister of Culture.
Also, Aguilar Navarro stated that "solidarity cooperation emerges as one of the most effective strategies to face challenges from the national and international environments, and we believe that training of professionals in restoration areas is crucial and priority."
The Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Panama, Massimo Ambrosetti, the Vice-Minister of the President Carlos García and Mr. Aristides Ureña, a well-known Panamanian plastic artist, also participated.
